The reason why ASR (e.g.: audio to text) is important and is going to happen is that the cost (both time, focus and mental capacity) of finding/selecting the right audio(section) is much higher than the cost for searching and (the subsequential) scanning of text. Especially considering that audio is much cheaper to make (again, based on the “though to result” time) in large quantities.
Couple this with an additional level of multi-tasking (perceived?) and we can do even more in less time. Lets hope we don’t equate this with “putting the brain in the network” and we, as humans, do remain in control and use the advantages made possible to do smarter things too.
